![]() P * Christian Trout (ID=926) Born: 1753 - Sharpsburg, Washington County, Maryland Died: 16 June 1847 Place of Death: Pikeville, Pike County, Kentucky Married: 15 Sep 1795 Remarks: Christian Trout is recognized as a patriot of the Revolutionary War in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). He first entered service in May 1778 in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Oct 6th 1834 he appeared at the Pike County court to apply for benefits according to the Act of Congress of June 7th 1832. Summary of what he stated: He volunteered and served under Col. Jones, Captain Joseph Chaplin and Lt. Chaplin in Washington County, Maryland. His company marched toward Philadelphia to meet General Washington's army. His company returned to Sharpsburg with captured British prisoners. He aided in capturing and confining many British soldiers. When his term was up (Nov 1778) he was drafted (March 1779) and served additional time in the war under Capt. Akin, Lt Bush and Col Jones. Elizabeth applied for a widow pension for her husband's service in the Revolutionary War on 7 May 1850 and a Bounty Land application for his service on 20 April 1855. On the bounty land application application she stated her maiden name was Gearhart. She had previously provided statement from the county clerk of Rockbridge County, Virginia that their records contained a marriage between Christian Trout and Elizabeth Gearhart on 15 September 1795. Her husband had died at their residence in Pike County, Kentucky on 16 September 1847. The pension ledgers ("United States Revolutionary War Pension Payment Ledgers, 1818-1872," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q24Q-RFW5 : accessed 3 August 2019), Elizabeth Trout, 04 Mar 1848; citing Indianapolis, Marion, Indiana, United States, NARA microfilm publication T718 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1962), roll 19; FHL microfilm 1,319,399.) show that she received a payment until March 1859 but did not receive one for September 1859.
